Wider and Employment Opportunities
We give all our students a fully rounded education through our enrichment programmes, work experience and employment opportunities and all of our students have the opportunity to complete an Extended Project as well as the majority being able to take AS Level General Studies.
All Sixth Form students have the chance to participate in our unique industry mentoring scheme which links students with a work based mentor and allows them to learn skills, experience and knowledge from an expert. This is a highly successful scheme and helps students to clearly define development needs and goals for their own career to give them the highest academic and professional success.
South Hunsley has a strong extra curricular ethos and this continues into the Sixth Form. The PE staff actively support students with their sporting ambitions and our school teams regularly succeed in regional Yorkshire and national tournaments. Sixth Form students also play essential roles in the Music department as senior members in a variety of musical groups.
In the Sixth Form, students can also share their expertise with younger primary students through a number of mentoring programmes and can even use this experience to gain qualifications such as the Sports Leaders Award. South Hunsley Sports also offers Sixth Form students the chance to achieve work related qualifications through fitness instructor training courses as well as employing a large number of our students in various positions such as lifeguards or children's club workers.
Ultimately, our aim is to give you wider experiences while in Sixth Form to support your university or employment applications and give you the chance to demonstrate a range of skills, wider than the academic, that the most renowned universities look for. During your time at South Hunsley Sixth Form College we hope that you will make the most of all of the opportunities available to you. It's not just about studying; we have numerous clubs, activities and events for students to take part in, and, add in the countless trips, visits and other events available to students and you will certainly be in for a busy, exciting and enriching time.
